One of our more experienced children worked with one of our newest today on a piece of history work called Fundamental Human Needs. They talked through the FHN Chart 2 (for food), then explored the food labels we have, dived into the cupboards and raided the goodies brought in for Fathers' Day baking, to sort for animal, plant and mineral foods. Then came the conumdrum - what to do with labels and foodstuffs that are a combination of 2 or 3 - resulting in every floor mat we possess put to use!
This then led to more research on salt - how much do certain foods contain (with some surprises!); and , for the more experienced child - where in the world does salt come from and how is it made useful.
