This afternoon, wtith the weather glorious, we took our work outside and used some simple and not so simple methods to continue our tree measurement work. The children had the wonderful idea for measuring the height of the tree by having the adults stand on the bottom and children of decreasing size stand on each others' shoulders with a very long tapemeasure. The adults readily agreed to do this, much to the children's astonishment.

This is the result. We asked all the children to lie down on the grass in height order, holding on to the feet of the child next in line!! Busted!
